GENDER POLICY
The Gender Commission aims to develop a policy and program aimed at achieving greater equity and inclusion of individuals within the Cooperative. This includes a communication campaign on equity and inclusion to promote the participation and incorporation of more people into the organization, especially inviting women to take on new roles in decision-making and management positions. Additionally, efforts are made to engage with initiatives that promote gender issues, such as ICAFE and NGOs that develop coffee strategies with greater female leadership.
YOUTH POLICY
The generational turnover in the Cooperative sector is key to the future of this productive model where all individuals come together to work towards a common benefit. Finding attractive and profitable associative forms is also required to achieve a new generation of Coffee Cooperativists. This committee responds to the objectives of the Strategic Plan 2022-2025 and the actions of the annual activity plan in addressing the new generations, promoting the incorporation of youth into the organization’s activities.
MICROLOTS
Internationally, Costa Rican Coffee is recognized for its high quality and limited quantity; this means that specialization is a tool for coffee profitability. These aspects reflected the need to implement the Microlots Project since 2018, which aims to reward coffee quality and incentivize the delivery of coffee in the best ripening conditions, thus covering a new market for specialty coffee and presence with customers willing to pay higher prices for our coffee. All under a Cooperative model.
CERTIFIED FARMS
The Certified Farms program enables the creation of added value for coffee that is marketed in different parts of the world. Certifications such as Rainforest Alliance (RFA) and Coffee Practices (CP) allow the efforts in sustainability to be visible to buyers, importers, roasters, and consumers from different parts of the world, thus obtaining an additional price for these actions.
